If you are unsure if you should watch the show due to negative reviews, I urge you to do so regardless! I don't quite understand all the hate for the show. I was expecting a mess but it has honestly been an enjoyable watch and I can't wait for season 2. I think most of the issues people have come from the fact the show isn't as good/being compared to the original series. While the original is definitely better in my opinion, Nocturn is still great overall. NOTE: I can see why some people might have gripes with some parts of the show (queer characters and large focus on slavery), but honestly it is not in your face and quite mellow, I never felt there was any pandering or forced messages. I feel if this show was released any other time, no one would be having such a reaction to it. The show is a hit or miss seeing as it has equal amounts 5 stars as 1 star reviews. I liked the characters as they all get fleshed out and have good interactions, however I do wish they focused on Richter more, seeing he is a main character. The main villain also feels a little flat, and I'm not super invested in her. The fights are still dynamic and fun, the voice acting is great, and the animation is still breathtaking. Overall, 4/5.
