I think ST:TMP was a truly inspiring film. The SFX was visually stunning considering all the problems they had. And who could forget the stirring music by Jerry Goldsmith. The uniforms could have been better designed. Yes they work well for comfortability, like modern astronauts, but didnt compare to the one's they wore for the next few movies. Many say how the film lacked pace and excitement. Well it was not that type of film, not a shoot-em up like Star Wars, like everyone wanted. It was a cerebral story, in that it dealt with a living machine which originated from Earth. However, I'd much rather see this than 2001: A Space Odyssey.
