This was the slowest book of the Kingsbridge series. Way too many characters are introduced in the beginning, but many of them don’t have much part to play. Every character went through a highly predictable arc and KF has taken too much pain to close all of them. Unfortunately the historical events feel a bit forced alongside the story line. In Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, the fiction and history blended well. I will certainly not look forward to another book in this series.
