I'm a fan of both Skyrim and Fallout.
Got to say, a few hours in and I'm not impressed.
Both the voice acting and the character animations all seem a bit, well, 2012!
Yes, you can bump the graphics up to Ultra and the game looks fantastic, until I watch my character run or sneak. No matter how pretty the environment is my stiff-armed loping figure is awful.
Ok, so I could go first person but I'm not a fan in RPGs.
As for the story? Granted I'm only a few hours in, but for an open world game like Skyrim and FO I sure am being herded in a single direction.
They have made no attempt to make the starting event make me want to drop my life and go in a different direction. So I touched a thing and saw some weird lights and passed out. So what? I work in a mine! Downtime will involve sleeping and drinking. Reckon I'd pass out all the time!
So some pirates attack? Big deal! None of this has anything to do with me!
Not like - hey, I've been arrested and some folks are going to chop my head off only a dragon attack saves me! Escape and go do what I want!
Nope! Take this ship a random guy has given you and go visit some more wooden actors and join their cause on the most tenuous of introductions and slimist of reasons! Whether you want to or not!
Okay maybe being a bit dramatic and again, only a couple hours in, but expected more from Bethesda's new flagship game. Something to make me go, Wow!
Just made me go, huh!
