I loved Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario, so this game was the biggest disappointment it could have been. I'd really rather it had instantly crashed and never been playable. Having said that, I only deigned to sit through a few hours of gameplay before deciding it was the worst ever Mario game I had ever laid eyes on and that it tarnished the whole brand in a way that it might as well not exist. The gameplay was unlike any other Mario game before and not in a good way, in a boring and pointless one. I have problems with hoarding in games, I don't mind being taken out of my comfort zone a bit, but to have to organise your sticker items and weapons all the time... Even though it was new, it was stale. Make it a tiny little optional minigame, sure, but a whole game with a normal price tag and length? Was it not incredibly trifling to make as well as play?
I read a couple of the other one star reviews before deciding to write this, as I have no idea how it got an 8/10 anywhere and I'm looking into Origami King to see if it's worth the time or money, which also got an 8/10... But the reviews for this have helped, so hopefully the reviews for that will too. Thank you to the people writing one star reviews for this travesty of a game, you're doing good work.
