I got my wife an HBO MAX subscription for Christmas so she could watch this movie. She’s a huge Wonder Woman fan. After it was over, she said “Ugh... I’m glad this wasn’t all you got me for Christmas!” The opening ten minutes are great (almost as if it was from a completely different movie), followed by two hours and twenty minutes of a complete cinematic train wreck. The awesome 80’s look of the WW84 posters and advertising isn’t actually in the movie at all. A few scenes look okay, but this multi-million dollar film overall looks cheap. Cheetah is a poor CGI design. Diana’s golden armor looks great, but does nothing. The fight choreography defies physics in a bad way. The movie dwells on Pedro Pascal’s hokey villain for what feels like hours, so much so that he virtually becomes the main character and overshadows both the female leads! It should be Gal Gadot’s movie, but she’s made to look weak and ineffective for almost the entire film. The drop-off in quality from the first movie is so drastic, it’s hard to believe Patty Jenkins made this one.
