As a lifetime fan of both Perry Mason books and the original Perry Mason series with Raymond Burr, the only resemblance the bears to the original are the names of the characters Perry Mason and Della Street, oh yes and Sergeant Holcomb. It is dark depressing and the music overwhelms the dialogue. What were they thinking? The actors performances are stunning they capture your attention but if you’re a fan of detective fiction and like courtroom dramas This ain’t it. However if you completely block out all memory of any past shows and consider this as a completely separate entity, it is absorbing and depressing and I couldn’t stop watching.
