I got chills many times while watching this powerful film spanning twenty years in the life of a Washington DC family; their struggles, tragedies, and triumphs. Davy Rothbart and Emmanuel Durant forged a very special bond that resulted in this masterful and beautiful film about not only a family, but so much more. I wont spoil it for viewers by going into too much detail, but this film tells the story of America through one family’s experiences, through their own eyes; much of the film is shot by the subjects themselves. It affords unusually intimate access to this family’s life, and is masterfully directed, produced and edited. Exceptional!
