I had a severe situation placing communities and people, esp the vulnerable at severe risk which i took action on and it had me severely impacted where i was axed for raising serious matters, after many attempts and in contact with the relevant government representatives and the utter disregard for action with many in that realm, i attempted initially to report the matter to my local 9 news (NBN News - Newcastle), repetitive attempts that would be responded to initially and than stone cold silence, than the rebuttal of it being a legal issue and they could not be involved which was untruth.
I than took the matter to 9 news sydney, similar responses over time - i than made an official complaint which i advised they were complicit in the situation occuring and enabling it just as was the govt officials who continued to downplay the matter, i used the word complicit as the situation is severe and placing people/ the vulnerable at risk, including myself being treated as such for advocating for those who had no voice though were being abused.
As soon as I made the complaint to 9 news Sydney, days later I had NSW Police at my door advising channel 9 phoned them concerned for my welfare; how disgraceful!
This obviously is the common tactic of intimidation and attempts to silence me on the matter to make me give up and go away. The ambulance was called as procedure by police, and i was pronounced as stable and not in any immediate threat of harm to self etc. Obviously.
Though the exercise and protocol cost hundreds for the resources used (ambulance call out), which they channel 9 are aware due toy initial contact and matter I was raising, they knew it would fall onto the tax payer to pay those fee's ( helping the health system, discreetly).
If this is how 9 News Sydney and Newcastle deal with serious matters that affect the community and the vulnerable when its brought to them, and they request community members bring such to them in their programs from time to time - they need new management and education, and a little upskilling in how to pick up a phone and logically have a conversation with the person submitting any report in such a matter.
Our Police are not channel 9's security guards; or any large companies tool to misuse inappropriately; they deserve better respect as does the person taking the risk to come to the media to speak up in the first place on serious matters.
Our police have more concerning matters and issues to attend to other than being used unnecessarily for such reports to them and false welfare checks that are a blatant misuse of power by 9 News, and using such to intimidate already vulnerable people already suffering, who have knowledge that places people in severe danger - and channel 9's methods and attempts to disengage with those they simply wish to ignore is to call the police, instead of providing logical replies of the inability to report a matter; and work with them in a genuine manner to gain support for the community still and currently at risk with the situation, as after disregarding my reports, they have had the nerve to report twice this year onz the company in question on very similar and relatable matters that confirm what i was initially reporting.
For goodness sakes channel 9, pick up the phone and give the reporter the time of day to hear the full extent of a situation before you mark them crazy and send police to their home adding costs to them, or the tax payer.
Get some humanity about yourselves, and decency!
