Its a serviceable horror feature if you're not a freak threatened by a teenage girl having a pixie cut or the idea of a woman being the lead. It's not trying to reinvent the genre or push any boundaries. Narratively it's just trying to press all the usual buttons for the franchise and yea competently it hits those beats. The acting is solid pretty much all around, despite some of the dialogue they're working with being a bit stiff, and the effects are well staged and shot.
If you're a fan of this subgenre of horror, then you'll probably enjoy this movie for what it is.
Again, if you're a freak (see the 'helpful' Brandon Smith review) then maybe just skip it and go touch some grass or something instead.
