watched this because I kept getting the trailer as an ad on youtube and it looked interesting. it held my attention and had some thrilling moments/kills, but it was fairly predictable. if you're looking for a movie with complex antagonists and characters you can understand or relate to beyond surface level, this is not the movie for you. very little is ultimately explained and the ending leaves you wanting more. I expected more of a final battle. angelina jolie did some semi-cool stuff but I was much more actively cheering on the bada$$ pregnant woman and the kid.
for those who have already watched: I found it funny how bad guy #1 (I retained nobody's names and I refuse to look them up) made a huge deal about not shooting a pregnant woman (at first) when he shot a different woman point blank in her truck when she came up on the father's murder scene? like hello, if you're gonna create this remorseless, soulless character who LITERALLY started a huge forest fire it doesn't make much sense for him to have that kind of boundary to me. or mention any kind of boundary. him, his partner, and his boss are probably the most generic, lazily written, trigger happy bad guys I have ever seen.
disclaimer: I know this movie is based on a book and I would hope the book is better.
