I hated it even as a really big Garfield fan. I’m autistic and Garfield is my special interest so when I say it’s bad…it’s BAD. I was legitimately thinking about walking out bc it was so boring at parts and made no sense. They captured odie and Jon well, and I loved the animation and songs/soundtrack. Other than that the script felt like it was written in less than a month, and the film itself was still being story-boarded. They explained Garfield’s connection to his dad blatantly like four times in the movie, which took time away from the actual plot of the movie itself. There were times in the movie where if you looked away from the screen for five seconds and turned back you would not know what was happening. Anyways- take your kid who’s under 7 and they’d probably enjoy it, otherwise it’s not worth the time or money. There was only a few families in the theater w me and my bf, and one family left in the middle of the movie. Meanwhile another family left a short time after that to get snacks, and I legitimately thought they weren’t gonna come back as well. I was thinking about just leaving at the end so I could buy the merch and get out of there.
