We Own This City. The cast selection was exemplary. It appears the cast acting skills and recognition was used to replaced developing their characters. This “The Wire” like series has so much potential. Being a police officer can be a difficult job, but living in a community where one must be just as afraid of police as one is of the criminal element is more difficult. The depiction of the people and communities of Baltimore was disappointing. Police series often make the “black people” seem subservient, unintelligent, and lacking. No black character had a strong role although they are great actors. We know big cities have problems… but everybody in the inner city!! Come on HBO!!! Image is everything! I know the story is being told from several perspectives. Hopefully, the writing and characters will develop so we can continue enjoying We Own This City for seasons to come!
