I love Tom Hardy’s acting and try to watch his work every chance I get. This isn’t a movie about badass gangsters that own the streets and certainly not about Al Capone in his glory days. It is a man dealing with a deteriorating mind and body that tries to navigate his last days. If you like action packed movies with a certain plot, motive, and an epic ending then this isn’t for you. If you like movies that are subtlety full of meaning, show a person’s life rather than exaggerate it (although it isn’t historically accurate), psychological, and emotionally touching then this is meant for you. I give it a 5/5 because it is different, touching, grotesque, realistic about deterioration, and Tom Hardy has once again has made me forget that it is him.
