Being shut in by the need for social distancing, I have taken to streaming more movies than I have ever watched in the past. Most are mediocre, but Please Stand by was exceptional. Dakota Fanning is excellent as the autistic young adult (most likely Asperger's) who faces the challenges of a world that requires social skills way beyond her abilities. The story is told with a great balance of sensitivity and humor (especially toward the end, I nearly fell off the chair in laughter and applause) and reminded me that there is goodness and compassion in the world. Highly recommend if you enjoy movies about courage, perseverance, and the human spirit overcoming overwhelming obstacles.
