He Man had the power. Now, Teela has it. The makers of this new re-imagined take on the beloved 1980s show obviously did not make it for the fans of the original (the now grown up fans of He Man). Who did they make it for? To get brownie points from people who never saw He-Man or collected the toys? Oh and I liked Teela when I was a kid. She was pretty. And she was a fighter. This isn't the same person. Looks nothing like her. So a big "No Thanks". This show isn't for me.

Pretty much "let us make it up as we go along" after episode one. I really like Tom Hiddleston and have made it to episode 4 forwarding through entire chunks. One star for Tom and one star for the retro look of the show. I am praying that someday Hollywood will rediscover the 1970s-1990s period in terms of variety, entertainment and empathy with a majority of the global audience and not just a vocal woke minority.

It ticks all the woke boxes– 1) unapologetically feminist 2) incompetent, weak, subservient or evil male characters 3) a homosexual main character 4) all criminals clearly belong to a specific identity 5) plenty of gore, abusive language and violence I watched the first two episodes back to back. Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo is the visual equivalent of a compelling, compulsive page-turner pulp novel. It simultaneously pursues a 'woke cultural transformation' agenda underneath the gripping and often darkly comic storytelling. Strong performances. Sure. Assured direction. Absolutely. But to what end? There is a cultural invasion being imported through digital platforms. Hope the people and the people's elected reps understand.
