The original is such a master piece, but I had high hopes for this movie. I could not get over the difference in acting. The scenes that made me feel the most in the original didn’t feel as real or as heartfelt. It felt forced and weird to say but “acting” not the reality of the original. The original is so raw but this just felt like a remake that didn’t even bother to live up to the original just solely on acting alone and I blame it on the director. Queen Latifah in Joyful noise was so pure and true to her character, but here felt forced. I love the concept and the idea of this movie and I’m glad they made a modern take on it. But the acting was horrific. I cry every time I watch Steel Magnolias. I just sat there watching this movie in almost boredom feeling no emotion at the end like I should have. Director Kenny Leon. Stick to theater and even then do better please I know your actors have more potential why did you hold them back 🙏
