I waited for the breakout scenes, redeeming qualities, and the only thing the drove home was Rosario Dawson reprising her role to talk Dante through his thoughts. The fan service was so forced, frustrating to watch, and out of place. The writing stripped Randall of his quips to conversation, and the centralized story was lost by others reprising their roles in a not-so-natural feel. The drama spawning from arguments was forced and made the characters feel careless to one another.
After we double-headered Clerks II into Clerks III, the four of us lost interest so much so I had to cut the night short to call an end to the night. Agreeably between the four of us, the script made no sense and kept getting more and more depressing, and not in a character connecting kind of way.
Let me save you the rental. Stop at Clerks II and enjoy it for the masterpiece that it was.
