Carol Bell – Google

I watched this when it first came out and have rewatched many times via vhs and now u tube. I loved the production and felt it was cast extremely well. Especially the smaller roles such as Topol and Sami Frey. I didn’t care for Winds of War as much partly due to casting. I love anything to do with WW 2 and wish there would be another mini series. Especially now with Netflix..At any rate I found the whole thing very powerful, especially all the scenes relating to the camps. Unbelievably great and realistic performances. Very emotional for me. I do wish they had stressed more all the other extermination deaths besides the Jews. So many more.

I enjoyed the book because I like memoirs and her story is interesting. The only thing that niggled at me was how she keeps referring to herself as a nurse. She went to a community college and was trained as a technician . That’s not the same thing as a registered nurse which is a four year bachelors degree in science. Who ghost wrote and or edited this book? How was that mistake left in? I just found that annoying. I also thought the description on flap was a bit exaggerated. She describes one incident of attempted sexual assault (not a carried out assault) and it doesn’t seem like she was an addict but flap says “addiction”. More like substance abuse - not the same as addiction. Hope I’m not sounding callous as to what she went through - just seems like it’s played up a bit for effect.
