I have read every single book by Julia Quinn, and this series broke my heart. I was very excited to watch the show, but honestly?! Get real, you can't just manipulate history according to your convenience! History means something! The aristrocacy were arrogant, judgemental, governed by extremely strict rules, and (I hate to say this but) totally and completely white! Rather than trying to fit coloured characters into moulds created for white people, why can't new roles and series be crafted with coloured people in mind?! This series could probably exist in some alternate fantastical reality, but NOT in the world we live in, and the past that has actually existed. The audience deserves better.
