Potential to be good smeared with the dog egg of DEI agenda, massive disappointment

Expected more from A24. It's definitely watchable, the acting from Hugh was believable, the premise though good fell short given where it could have gone and I found it highly predictable throughout. For most people it will probably be considered suspenseful, dark and controversial but for me personally I found it overall another disappointment with good effects, cast, writers and directors. 3* because I know they can do far better than this and that's being generous

Huge fan of the original so went into this one excited, apprehensive and skeptical they could bring the same energy, skin crawling sounds makeup and effects. I am pleased to report the story is solid the performances are great Keaton on form and they've kept the best parts that made the original a cult classic. No spoilers if you loved the original you'll enjoy the sequel.

Standard recipe, good effects, reasonably written story that stayed on track but at the same time didn't really go anywhere, a little in keeping with the franchise also a few nods to the classics but not the best. Just felt like it could have been so much better, less predictable and the fear turned up to 11. Nothing worse than a claustrophobic unlit belly crawl with an angry Xeno hot on your heels, more over the shoulder camera shots with intense jumpscare, tension build up, horrific unique deaths and futuristic world imagination for gadgets etc. Like c'mon you have the tech the budget the and experience the bar was set you should be trying to up the ante by this point. Had high hopes given the wait and hype, wanted to love this but left unsatisfied, disappointed and seen as yet another weak attempt to piggy back off the earlier movies success. Do better or let me write it and I'll have the whole cinema begging to turn the lights back on.
