Yes it was in your face but I enjoyed it. Margot Robbie was brilliant. It was interesting how they actually made the old silent movies and I liked the link to "Singing in the rain".
Too bad there are all these negative reviews as it almost put me of gping

Too much focus on the lead actor. Not enough development of mother or father. Didn't like the constant close ups and I found the story very repetitive and actually boring. Was going to walk out on quite a few occasions.
