Like all Ridley Scott films, it looks great but this is more Kingdom of Heaven than Gladiator. He tries to cover far too much, even at over 2 hours it all feels like a fly by without stopping and giving us any detail or sense of actually getting to know the man or the political machinations of the time. A film of broad stokes that lacks depth and barely scratches the surface. I have no interest in ever watching this again. Would be better as a limited series or even a 2 or 3 season drama.
