American history x is nothing shy of a wild roller coaster of emotions. At face value the dark undertones of racism are clear in the opening scene which was shot in black and white. Edward Norton fires back at a group of intruders whom have shown at his home. he manages to win leaving one young man ion the ground nearly dead but still salvageable. Norton decides to curb stomp him like the Italian mobs used to do. This theatrical and most public assassination is gruesome to say the least but also leaves room for sympathy, a little. what would you do if someone came to your house in the middle of the night with a gun ? obviously call the police and not curb stomp them right ? Without giving away too much The movie questions the harsh realities of a poor communication or lack there of between people from different ways of life who have been raised on different principles either fascism or the idea of "live fast and die young"
