We tend to feel that the length could've been truncated. But then we'd have got only the story & missed out on the widgets on that kind of village life. Pariyan was about the Oppressed Vs the Dominant Oppressors. Karnan is about the Oppressed Vs the Oppressive Police Force. They are irked by the Village chief's turban that he refuses to remove. They're angry that somebody like Madasamy could name his son as Duryodhanan & Kanthiah can name his son as Karnan.. The inevitable battle ensues. There are losses on both sides, but the Oppressed folks win in the End. And we cheer for them.
