S5/E10, arsenic poisoning in 1882 rural lancashire. Love the show but this episode really annoyed me as all parties including the judge focussed only on the arguments of the time -was it murder or suicide? But to me it was obvious - accidental. There was an enormous amount of arsenic in the rice pudding (which, though he didnt prepare, the hubby himself cooked). The investigators said that arsenic was often used for keeping the rat population down and that it looked very similar to sugar - given the huge amount of arsenic found in the pudding I believe the hubby spooned in the arsenic mistaking it for sugar. Disappointing none of the legal experts considered this as it seems so obvious to me.
