I watched this because the trailer looked intriguing and because of all the accolades it had received. But I almost stopped Netflix halfway through because it was moving so slowly. I persevered though and now realise that it was right to move slowly. The class structure, the flightiness of the men, the struggles of the women - all need to be laid out slowly in order to show their permanence. I was praying that Cleo could bring her child back to life - the male nurse gave up too easily, and I was also praying there wouldnt be another tragedy in the waves. So I guess the film succeeded in pulling me in. But what's the significance of Cleo being the only one to do the Tree pose with her eyes shut at the martial arts training ground? And why does Sofia's child keep having flashbacks to his previous lives? Guess I'll keep thinking about this for a while.
