If you watched the original HIMYM or you deeply enjoy the sitcom genre: I say full steam ahead! If you are someone who needs their hangout sitcom to "do more" or "something different" - this isn't for you. HIMYF is a classic laugh track slapstick group of friends sitcom. I think it ticks every box I have for what I want in a show. I live for the corny rom-com moments and the obvious setups. I love it when shows or movies continue a story. I was really expecting to be disappointed due to the media's scathing reviews but I couldn't have enjoyed myself MORE! From one die-hard HIMYM fan - I say give it a try!
