"Geek Girl" stands out as one of the worst teenage shows in history. It bears a striking resemblance to the older show "Jean by Design," yet fails to measure up in every way. While "Jean by Design" was clearly aimed at a teenage audience, it was still quite enjoyable. In stark contrast, "Geek Girl" is nothing short of a disaster.
The plot is utterly implausible. For instance, Wilbur resigns from his job for Harriet—is this supposed to be more sci-fi than actual sci-fi? The villain, Betty, comes across as laughably juvenile, her malevolence akin to that of a kindergartner. The direction and writing give off the impression that they were crafted by someone no older than fifteen.
Among Netflix's offerings, "Geek Girl" is undeniably the worst and most cringe-worthy. It seems to target an audience of nine-year-old girls. The show's awkwardness and lack of substance make it a painful watch for anyone else.
