I was embarassed for Natalie Portman as the role forced her to act several scenes where the actor says and does things that absolutely never have happened anywhere. A lot of this movie is well written and gets you thinking about the real life situation but when its bad, its simply awful. My wife and I rarely talk during a movie but we had to stop and ask, did we really just see that? Several scenes should be on the cutting room floor or better yet, should never have been thought of. Just ridiculous writing.

I started this twice but gave up each time in the second episode. Its just filled with nasty people doing cruel and nasty things. I see how people can be drawn to the writing as its definately not dialog you would ever expect to hear and that makes some of the characters and situations interesting. I see a lot of fantasy interjected into today's TV and movie offerings but don't need to see more Charles Manson crazy things like this.
