An awful, inconsistent and cringe-worthy departure from Jane Austen’s brilliant story. This Anne is snarky and immature, this Wentworth is mopey and uncharismatic; you’re left wondering why they want to be together. The plot changes are ineffective and have multiple inconsistencies. Austen’s work is flawless: honour it, don’t distort it.
