I enjoyed this book thoroughly with its new characters and the old ones as well , the story was fluid and intriguing, but quite slow in developing and connecting the dots around the story. Old Darrell and her friends are back , and Darrell is made Head of the Upper Fourth.Everyone works hard for the School Certificate , and Darrell’s sister ,Felicity and Alicia’s cousin , June join the school.Felicity is like Darrell , but does not have a temper , while June is like Alicia, but very hard and domineering.There are two twins , Connie and Ruth.Then a new girl Clarissa enters and the story twists , with Gwendoline worshipping her , thinking her to be beautiful and rich.But Gwendoline produces a fake heart to pretend that her heart is weak to get out of School Certificate.She asks Clarissa , who actually has a weak heart , to come out with her at half-term to tell her mother about it , but after hearing all Gwen’s fibs , she stops believing in her heart and befriends Bill instead.Gwen’s friendship ends abruptly and her mother takes her home after it is mentioned and contacts a specialist, who says there is nothing wrong and she needs a bit exercise.Then Darrell loses her temper with June when a midnight feast goes wrong and resigns as head girl , and Sally is made temporary head girl.Then Felicity broke her friendship with June after seeing her true colours.Then the Connie Affair starts and Darrell puts things right and is made head girl again! It is a good story but moves quite slowly. A must read by Enid Blyton!
