Good lord, where to begin. Well, apparently the oxygen levels are too low. Don’t know why. The dad (Common) is a brilliant engineer but somehow overlooked the fact that the life support equipment only can sustain 2? Little bit of an oversight don’t ya think? He just decides to run out of air and pass away instead of fixing the problem like his daughter was able to do in the end in like a day or so? Who says “hey black man” to their father? Yeah, enough subtle hints about black supremacy and racism towards whites, but that’s ok isn’t it. Even the AI was annoying. Then the folks that were “sent” (who knows really) had just the worst time trying to accomplish their mission of looking at the oxygen generator. Everyone is lying about everything and it just over the top. The whole movie is people screaming and breathing heavy with a bunch of illogical choices over complicating everything. Also, when did the car have time to charge to drive 100 miles when it died just going 5?

Who seriously reads the scripts of these movies and say, “yeah, this is it”. Spoilers ahead Even though Kelsey is the least likable and most annoying characters in Yellowstone, I wanted to give her a chance being a main character. Another stiff and unbearable performance. Granted, she spends the whole movie sliming around “paralyzed “ and she made a convincing mannequin. She goes up to a cliff to commit suicide but then decides to resist and fight to survive? Who is this random guy? Tries to be intelligent and talks about redundancy, but can’t seem to handle a paralyzed victim. Side note: buoyancy is inconsistent. Floats like styrofoam down some rapids (which she managed to go through without slamming into rocks or getting caught in them) then sinks in the end scene. Who is the bad guy? Just gets in a car wreck and suddenly gets a lustful desire to start murdering people? There is a brief scene where he attempts to rationalize it but it doesn’t work at all. How many movies can they make where the antagonist is lazy, commits unbelievably stupid mistakes, or just toys around too much. This one takes the cake. Paralyzes his victim to where she literally can’t move and he just can’t seem to handle her. So obnoxious I’m sad about Bill. He was whoopin ass

How is this one even related to the other two? Spoilers ahead: Following a bland character who in the middle of an alien invasion decides all she was going to do was go get pizza? The city is under siege by a deadly alien species and she assumes a pizza shop is just gonna be continuing to serve hot slices of pizza? A cat that somehow doesn’t make a peep ever and follows this owner everywhere? Even after a very loud and discombobulating separation in the initial invasion? Who thinks that’s a passable storyline? The premise of this is unbelievably ridiculous and the characters are simply meaningless. Very frustrating given how well the first two were done. Also, these biological alien species swept aside the entire military? They can’t swim very well and invaded a planet that’s 70% water? How did they get here? Were they just free floating through space? Was it a coordinated effort? How did they survive atmosphere entry? As the prequel, some of the answers could have been eluded to even if the characters in the following two are unaware. This film offers nothing to expand on the aliens origin or a multitude of other holes in the plot. BUT HEY, let’s go get pizza.

I don’t know what part is the horror. The familial dysfunction or another “black movie” that can’t go without hinting at victimization in some form. Why was the mother (Andra Day) character so angry all the time? Seemed to have good kids who do kid things and she would go off on them constantly. Absolutely weird dynamic with her mother (Glenn Close). I understand it was to illustrate some tense history but c’mon. I feel the ‘demonic presence’ had no shortage of negative energy to feed off of in that house. As far as this being in the horror genre, it falls extremely short. It was the laziest parts of the exorcist and amityville plot lines. Nothing but underdone, regurgitated slop
