I will admit, I've always been a fan of Elvis since my mother played his music throughout my childhood. I generally devour any docs or movies about his life, so the 5 star is solid.
This movie focuses on his actual career rise and how a carnival promoter, Colonel Tom Parker, became his manager and exploited his talents and manipulated his money to benefit himself.
Though Austin Butler really didn't look like Elvis (who really could, honestly?), he delivered a solid, and gorgeously accurate, performance in my eyes.
I remember where I was when Elvis died..in the back seat of my mom's Plymouth Duster, just a little tot, when the news came on the radio. My mom had to stop the car and cry. I'd never seen her cry before. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Well worth the watch!
