It became very clear that this was not a non-biased documentary when the case against Adnan Syed was never presented. Major damning pieces of the case were completely left out! The whole thing just goes in circles as Rabia, (Adnan’s lawyer), tries to manipulate the viewers with half truths in order to derail the narrative into conspiracy theory land. She never follows any theory she presents through because her only goal is to poke holes in the evidence against her client, who also is a family friend.
I’m very disappointed with HBO being associated with this “documentary”. This was a slap in the face to Hae Min Lee’s family and loved ones. The only positive thing I can say is that the beginning of the show brings Hae to life momentarily. But she’s quickly forgotten as the focus shifts to advocating for her murderer.
