While the government needs to survive long enough to implement the doctrine of "Mutually Assured Destruction", the true elites have plans to inherit the earth. If you had the money to guarantee your own survival, who else would you be worried about? Certainly not the government! Reality is moving in the direction of there not being anywhere near enough for seven billion people to survive and those with the means are working to maintain their wealth in a form that continues to dominate the rest of humanity. Wouldn't you? AI that is competent enough to maintain the necessary infrastructure would help ensure the existence of the truly wealthy, while rendering most of the rest of us obsolete.
