Destroys the stunning legacy of the first films which - while not perfect - were groundbreaking, entertaining, thought-provoking and imaginative. Less than nothing here for old fans and new movie-goers. Lazy un-imaginative writing, effects and choreography that look dated/cheap vs 20yrs previously. So many incongruous and unnecessary flashbacks in an lazy attempt to generate nostalgia. All the new characters have utterly forgetful roles and personalities except for the the Analyst who - while memorable - cannot save a banal and nonsense plot that tries to recycle all the best bits of the first three and fails abysmally. His nemesis - Agent Smith? OMG somehow returns as a contrived plot device and has replaced the stellar Hugo Weaving with a vacant superficial home catalogue model. Oh and the movie tries to escape its banality by making fun of itself as a cynical sequel - it fails, Fails BIG. Oh Moss and Reaves - why why why did you agree to this?

Interesting story but dumbed down into teenage drama... Vs the comic. What bothered me most is how many of the characters do lots of dumb things just to make the story work.. really annoying.

incredibly intricate, beautiful and emotive story lifted yet higher by an haunting and powerful soundtrack.

You might enjoy this movie if you haven't seen the swedish originals and like James Bond... but if you have seen them then... This is a perfect example of how to ruin brilliant and subtle characters, (Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist of the original swedish movies) and deep moving stories with the Hollywood, dumb-down approach to story, writing and acting. Original story creator Stieg Larsson must be regretting the money he took to give control of his creation to such unimaginative writers. Lisbeth is now a James Bond style action hero-hacker who literally jeopardises the world and is then on a mission to save it. The smart genius engages in uncharacteristically dumb behaviour just to service the plot. features ducatis, lamborghinis, familial arch-enemies dressed in red, nuclear missiles, lone NSA secret agents etc etc blah blah.

It's a very gory swords and sandals movie.. don't expect too much thought or historical realism here but its visually great, set pieces are pretty stunning. the plot, story acting are all decent for a move of this type and i enjoyed it.

wow. Extraordinary example of how to mix an incredible script, story, acting into (once again) a definitive 'superhero' story of our time. Does for comicbooks what Game of Thrones did for Dungeons & Dragons! It also goes beyond entertainment into some incredibly relevant social and political themes that make for engaging and gripping viewing. Thank you to all the Watchmen Team. Please take a shot a Grant Morrison's Zenith next please.

An awful, contrived but spectacular mess.. no story at all.. no character development.. makes even episodes 1-3 look like Shakespeare. Every story is an exposition based treasure hunt.. Find this, find that, find him..etc.. utterly lazy writing. Random, rushed mix of Ryan Johnson damage control, desperate fan-service and special effects. George Lucas must be regretting the slow destruction of his incredible legacy. Compare the incredible Marvel story arc by Kevin Feige that shows good story, acting and character development and to this incoherent Kathleen Kennedy narrative.. 3/10. What a sad end to the this epic 40 year old saga

Great acting, but tediously annoying contrived behaviour from Frances, the PI, the father etc - undermines credibility of the characters? spoiler Greta already has a police complaint against her from the victim and has already been taken previous by police/ambulance yet when Frances goes missing nobody calls the police? Whenever in danger or suspicious, the victim conveniently turns their back to Greta at every opportunity. Erica finds the house but then also doesn't call the police? Could have been such a great movie, why do writers make the characters so dumb?
