Please just Google the real Lioness program before you comment.
I want to like this so bad. It has great actors and so much potential. I'm a female Marine Corps vet who was in during the actual Lioness program (and thus, served in the same timeframe this is set in). I'm struggling with the inaccuracies and wish it would've honored the real story of the many women who died in that program a bit closer. Or at least picked a different name for the movie. Plus, all the inaccuracies about the Marines, terms, culture, uniforms, etc made it harder to take seriously. For starters, Lioness wasn't in Special Ops. Back then, women weren't allow in Special Ops nor were we allowed in combat roles. That's why this program had to be created to begin with.
Some of these comments that say facts like that don't matter are frankly concerning. The Lioness program was real and so were the women who died. But lets poo-poo at the ask for some representation for them and instead compare their story to "Captain America" shall we?
I also agree with one comment that I want to see women's bodies that are real. If these actresses can actually do 15 pulls up, I'll eat my words. Until then, I'll advocate to represent the actual muscular women who can do the 15 pullups. Especially for a show that is trying to defy gender roles (and so many comments who praise it), it would've been nice to embrace that body type. Lots of hypocritical comments on this dismissing the inclusion of us bulkier women under the name of feminism.
