I watched this film this afternoon. The sci fi side is a pretext to address the notion of time, how it can be perceived, wether time is real or not. ( Einstein is not far) It's a réflexion about the future of humanity, how people will’ live in big cities, to have enough space, no pollution. Would the building of new towns be a threat for all the people whose slums will be destroyed for new buildings ? We have already seen this kind of thing happening everywhere : small dwellings erased to build skyscrapers for instance and people not always properly relocated and having a sense of loosing their properties
The film also tells about power, how easy it is to manipulate crowds for the advantage of one man, or manipulate others for money.
It tells about the danger of fake footage, ( danger of AI), about difficult choices : Julia and her father, Julia and Caesar Catalina.
There are so many points of view in that film about love, fidelity, embezzlement, ambition, view of the future. It’s totally about humans : their flaws, their thirst for power, their loves.
Time and what it is being one of the most important character of the film.
This kind of films needs to be watched several times., though it’s a bit chaotic, but impressive.
