This not the movie that I thought I was going to watch. True I had read nothing about it before watching it so I had no idea it was all about his sexuality and there was nothing about his conducting or writing. West Side Story gets one line. I did not mind the nose prosthetic. I minded the script and direction. Bernstein is not made to look like a genius. He is made to look like a "chicken hawk", a guy who haunts gay bars looking for guys to hook up with. Maybe he does not deserve better. Maybe that is all that he was. But I do not think so.
