I loved the first 3/4 of the book. The writing was beautiful and had that wonderful Frenchness about it. But oh dear the ending. So contrived and protracted it went on forever and felt like a totally different book. Clever perhaps but too clever for its own good

Absolutely beautiful I hope it wins the Booker prize

I have been waiting for the book for ages from the library. So decided to listen to it on audio. The basic story of this book - passing someone else's writing as your own - has been done countless times before. No not many points for originality. However it did have a couple of different twists which made it interesting. The general difficulties faced by Asian authors and stereotyping. And the paranoia/haunting of the new author. Took ages to get going but I quite enjoyed it in the end
