Finally a zombie tv show with some balls, Ever since Sean of the Dead the zombie genre has been flooded with the next satirical rendition of a comedic apocalypse with most of those being flops like netflix's ridiculous high school zombie show (immediately cancled and ive forgotten the title in days) BUT BLACK SUMMER kicks off with a high tension that brings 2004's Dawn of the Dead remake to mind.
only a few episodes in and i find myself in disbelief that Netflix finally greenlit a show with some controversial dialogue and themes largely absent from many of the zombie flicks that seem to walk on eggshells these days to protect their precious innocent viewers livelihoods, yet it is the very indifference of a brutal flesh-eating apocalypse that generated zombie subculture to begin with.
I'd like to see the show go in a more visceral gory direction in the next 4 episodes I have left (akin to the classic dawn of the dead titles), but I'll certainly indulge nonetheless.
