Why can't movie-people make good movies based on computer games? How do they find themselves making these movies if they have no connection with the source material? Scenario: I've never played Doom; someone asks if I want to make a Doom movie; I reply that I don't know what Doom is; the end. In what universe do I reply "Yeah, Let's do it. What's Doom?". In what universe do I, asking the original question, agree to work with someone on a Doom movie who doesn't know what Doom is? Only two doomless people could get passed that. How is it that two people who don't know what Doom is, come to a point where they're discussing a potential Doom movie?
