Game can be very fun when it works, but there are a TON of bugs in this game. You'd think company of this stature should be able to handle. But they largely go ignored for 6+ months at a time, even though the community is bringing up said bugs to them daily. This day and age you don't have to pay a monthly fee to play MMOs, yet World of Warcraft still draws enough demand to charge monthly for their MMO. Due to that, you may anticipate a smoothly operating game from a company with the pedigree of Blizzard Entertainment. I can assure you that will not be the case, as game operations, bug fixes and customer service seem to be an afterthought here. I resubscribed during the covid shutdown, and have been subscribed since. For the past three and a half years, the game has been anywhere between great and completely unplayable. The rollercoaster of consistency suggests to me this is all happenstance, and they're really unsure what they're doing at Blizzard Headquarters. Just when things are getting good, you'll see a significant drop in quality stemming from something largely self inflicted by the developers. If you're looking for ranked competitive player vs player, I think this game is probably the best for that on paper. But in execution, you will see consistent integrity lapses as random bugs will disconnect you from the game, or you'll be matched up with someone across the world causing extreme lag. There are also multiple points during a season where imbalance will lead to a position where it's actually the smarter competitive move to NOT play the game, and wait it out. The ranking system also includes incentive to hold off playing until the end of the season, as there is no valid reason (from a competitive standpoint) to play during it. There are also high demand roles in the game that are scarcely being played. The response has been reward based as an incentive for playing, rather than the seemingly obvious solution: making the game generally enjoyable to play for these roles. Reporting any bugs or even inquiring for a logical explanation or reasoning will result in complete radio silence. If you're looking for anything else other than rated PvP, there are significantly better, and completely free games.
