Absolutely incredible! I came away from watching it, so moved and also educated about the U.S. prison system in ways so new to me. I am so fired up by the injustices still being served on the African American people in the U.S. that if I were a young person I would be out there protesting with them. I'm a senior and stuck at home because of Covid-19. Anyone who doesn't get what the latest protests are really about should watch this movie and educate yourself.

I stayed up until 2:30 AM last night glued to this documentary. It wasn't easy to watch but I had to see how it ended. I did a little research this morning and found out that the mother had lost her first husband in a car crash a few weeks after the twins' birth. She put them into care for a while as she suffered a psychotic breakdown. She married again and I presume the twins were brought back to live with her and this second husband who obviously had no attachment to them as he wasn't their biological father. The film focussed on Alex and Marcus and left the back story of the mother out. It was their story to tell and it would have taken away from the impact of their trauma if the mother's story was included. Doubters may ask any number of questions about the validity of this story but anyone who has been abused as a child knows the powerlessness of your situation. I was told by my father that if I went to the police I would be taken away and put into a children's home and never see my family again. I believed my father's lies that he had friends in the police force and they would never believe me. I read out my memoir on my YouTube channel SuperLillysweet if you care to listen.
