Holy cow this game is awful. I’ve been playing NHL consistently since 2013 and this is by far the worst one. Let’s start with the new goaltending mechanics. Sometimes the goalie saves every thing and most of the time it just leads to the goalie being in a random position for no reason that then leads to easy goals. The new pokecheck feature is great in theory because it does deter people who just hammer the pokecheck but there’s no reason Cale Makar should be getting burnt by Lucic. I get the concept but there’s gotta be some balance as to how much it slows the player down. Lastly just the overall randomness to the game. There’s no way that I should out shoot someone 26-7 and lose the game 3-1. How does that even make sense? That doesn’t even happen in real life. I don’t even like when I’m getting out played and I get two goals off slap shots from the blue line that go off my teammates foot. This game used to be the best simulation sports game. It’s fallen so far due to cheesy mechanics that get exploited and don’t take any skill to do. Unfortunately there’s no competition for EA so just like madden nothing will change.
