Loved "Prospect." Watch it if you love sci-fi. [For a synopsis of the movie plot, please see some of the other google reviews or see the Wikipedia page which actually has a very good synopsis.]
I found "Prospect" to be inventive, beautifully crafted and poignant. There was plenty of action and drama, both depicted in a believable and subdued way.
One criticism that I found interesting among the other reviews is that there is little emotion shown by the characters. I disagree, but even if that were true, one must keep in mind the universe in which these characters reside. Theirs is a cold, bleak and desperate existence. Plus, the plot itself leaves the characters little room for expressive emotion. To be clear, the emotion is there. The humanity is clear throughout.
Watch to the end, it'll pay off, I promise.
Other criticisms I've read simply prompt me to submit that this movie is not for viewers that need everything explained. One has to be able to independently fill in some blanks! "Prospect" is not for you if you watched Star Wars Episode IV and indignantly had to ask "And how does Han understand Wookie, anyway??"
"Why is Ash's blood white?? If Harry is a wizard, then why does he need glasses?? If Danaerys can survive dragon fire, how did a knife kill her??" Imagination, people!!
If you saw Pulp Fiction and for whatever reason fixated on where the gimp came from, this movie is not for you. Just go with it.
There are a few gut-wrenching, gruesome scenes, so be ready for that.
Some may find the plot to be derivative. Maybe so. I also challenge anyone to show me something entirely original. Actually, "Prospect" comes close.
