While there are a few moments of fun, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is mostly Boring Boring. When you read it took 36 years to make a sequel, you tend to have great expectations for such an iconic property's return. Sadly and frustratingly this film never gets anywhere near a high bar, instead it wonders the underworld in search of a coherent plot and purpose. Most of the jokes and nods to the original seem forced or perfunctory, leaving little room for anything remotely fresh or fun.

Unfunny, unappealing, unwelcome. It is 2022, and we are still getting tired, cliché-ridden garbage unworthy of anyone, particularly gay men. Why are we still wallowing in self-loathing and shaming? There was nothing redeemable about the characters and their one dimension, no one to root for and talent wasted. We deserve better.
