The ending is so lack luster and obvious they were going for "go women" in having Ariel save Eric instead of Eric save her when it just doesn't make sense for so many reasons

It was really good! Of course, if you are expecting a cinematic masterpiece then you are in for a rude awakening, but it was awesome for a cheesy horror! Also, no joke, I got sort of emotional during some scenes. The acting was all around very good and every character got a chance to shine.
