Are You Here is an underrated film about the pursuit of happiness. The characters are portrayed by famous actors of the big and small screen in a noteworthy way for most of them. The main character is played by commercially viable Owen Wilson who portrays the most simple and seemingly depthless Steve Dallas who indulges in everything from sex to junk food. Only when is comes to his mentally ill childhood friend Ben played by zach galifianakis does he show love and compassion. From the lady of the night that Steve can't afford to pay to the unlikable shrewd sister every character is uniquely relateable to all viewers. Although never given the proper opportunity, Are You Here has great commercial potential while minimizing artistic integrity. Even the small Outback commercial done during the arch of the plot was entertaining and tastefully done.
